In two parts: Part I at head of title on t.p.; part II has a separate title page; both title pages have: "Exact reprint of the earliest English Text printed in Holland by Joh. Enschedé en zonen founded in Haarlem anno MDCCIII for the Bennett Libraries."
Part II is not in fact by Voltaire; attributed by Bengesco to Charles-Claude-Florent Thorel de Campigneulles (cf. G. Bengesco, Voltaire, 2354), and more recently to Henri-Joseph Dulaurens (cf. J. Rustin, "Les suites de Candide au XVIIIe siècle," in Studies on Voltaire and the eighteenth century, v.90, 1972, p.1395-1416)

Patrick Lee Voltaire Collection, Rare Books and Special Collections copy: item number 2006: copy number 310 of a limited edition of 1,000 copies; the 9 black and white illustrations have been hand coloured; mounted on the front end papers, printer's front blank pages and throughout the volume are the following: illustration of Voltaire, a statue in onyx, by Houdon, recently acquired by the Ehrich Galleries; black and white illustration of Voltaire; 3 black and white Rockwell Kent illustraions from the 1928 edition published by Random House (pages 10, 33, 80); 3 additional unidentified coloured illustrations; one set of 7 postcard like coloured illustrations with captions mounted throughout the text (some have become detached); mounted on the back end papers are two clippings: the first clipping is titled "U.S. discovers Voltaire and bans "Candide" as lewd after 170 years", Boston, May 22; the second clipping in French is unidentified; laid in is an illustration by Mahlon Blaine which is present in the 1930 Groset & Dunlop as well as the Three Sirens Press publications of Candide, the caption in these publications reads: "These cries came from two completely naked girls"; a second clipping laid in is an article entitled "Age of Enlightenment" from Life, September 15, 1947, pages 87-88; first side of clipping is entitled "Voltaire: his wit fought for reason and justice", the second side is entitled "Return to nature: Rousseau's scorn for artificial living turned the court to rustic play".
