These books from the libraries' collections are printed in the Arabic script-based Ottoman Turkish alphabet, the standard prior to the official change in 1928 to a Latin-based Turkish alphabet. They include administrative governmental sources as well as literary and religious texts in a variety of disciplines, dated from 1827 to 1928.
Purchased from a Judaic/Hebraic Old Books Store in Amsterdam in the 1960s, the Historic Jewish Pamphlets collection at The Ohio State University Libraries includes books and Judaic ephemera (“gray literature”) in various languages, mainly German, Dutch and Hebrew, from the 18th to early 20th century. The collection displays important aspects of daily Jewish life, mainly in Western Europe, during this time period.
