I recall reading a story in elementary school where Gatling locked himself in a basement for two weeks to create the light bulb. After much work, he did succeed and upon leaving his basement found out that Edison had already invented and patented the light bulb. I don't know the truth of this but this release is a similar case. For two years, Illusion of Art attempted to write a soundtrack to this movie. The first attempt at this soundtrack was lost in a hard drive crash, the second was...

Bardesanes Records is proud to finally release "The Tribulation," now long overdue. In the spirit of other over-ambitious, over-worked pieces of art this release took only a few days to record and over a year to mix. The instrumentation is sparse, mistakes were left in, and the first working take of anything was used and left alone. If you take away anything from this or other releases by Bardesanes Records, hopefully it is how much can be accomplished with so little.

Recorded sporadically, not long after the completion of Phylum, Subordinate is the follow up to Phylum, though an EP as it is. "Spiral of Silence" opens the EP with a lengthy display of atmosphere. The recording is very lo-fi. The main body of the song is proceeded and concluded by the wisdom of Richard Nixon. "Minstrel of Dissolution" was planned to be recorded for Phylum but was never recorded. A few demos exist of this as well as an alternate version of what is on...

Bardesanes Records is about as enthusiastic as it will get to release Heat Seeking Missile by Nebula 444, an EP of dance-based electronica filled to the brim with house beats and ethereal instrumentation. Though never walking the lines of homogenized dance music, this release is infectious enough to obscure the fact that this is really experimental music.

For better or for worse, Bardesanes Records is finally releasing "The Faults That Lie Within the Curmudgeon Retirement Home" by Pompous Logic. The album could not be more aptly titled because the Curmudgeon Retirement Home was the shabby home studio it was recorded in. Further adding to that, to make room on the 20GB hard disk, it was copied to CD which the CD-ROM drive was later found to be faulty. So, why release it? It documents some of the electronic experiments of Graham Hill as...

As a sort of teaser for Seven Years of Tribulation's upcoming release "The Tribulation," we are releasing what amounts to a single. "Hole in My Face" is the first song done by Seven Years of Tribulation and this is the original mix of the song, substantially different from what will appear on "The Tribulation." "Fossil Girl," a non-album track, was a song written by Lawrence during his days of college inebriation but done with new music as a Seven Years...

Recorded in 2004, Illusion of Art's first album "Phylum" was originally self-released on CD-R in 25 copies. This recording is very rough. It was recorded with terrible equipment by plugging a four track into the back of the computer as a mixer and recorded completely with freeware. The vocals are sung in an asthmatic wheeze over distorted guitars, harpsichords, kotos, home organ percussion, Nintendos, hip-hop beats, and Mellotrons among others....
