A preliminary search for alternatives to 2,2',4,4'6,6'- hexanitrostilbene, as grain modification additives for TNT and its compositions, has been made. An experimental program was conducted in the AEDC-VKF hypervelocity Wind Tunnel (F) at a nominal Mach number of 19 to determine the static stability and axial-force characteristics of a 0.01-scale model of the NASA Space Shuttle Orbiter. The tests were conducted at an angle of attack of 30 deg at free-stream Reynolds numbers (based on model length) from 100000 to 400000.
