The Red Army learned and practice the art of deception at all levels of warfare during World War II. By cloaking various force groupings and activities, Soviet military leadership, particularly in the latter stages of the war, created operational-level deceptions that surprised German intelligence and commanders. Through their empirically structured military science, Soviet researchers and doctrine writers have applied deception to the tactical, operational and strategic levels of war. While...

The recommended values presented are uncorrected and also corrected for the thermal expansion of the material and cover the temperature range from 1 K to above the melting point into the molten state. The...

The Standard Technical Manual Identification Numbering Systems (TMINS) has been promulgated to initiate the implementation of a single significant numbering system for technical manuals and related technical documents procured by Naval Material Command (NMC) Components. TMINS may also be used for identifying publications and other documents when it is desired that they may be centrally controlled, tracked and indexed. The use of the single numbering systems will eliminate the complications in...

Outgassing data, derived from tests at 398 K (125 C) for 24 hours in vacuum as per ASTM E 595-77, have been compiled for numerous materials for spacecraft use. The data presented are the total mass loss (TML) and the collected volatile condensable materials (CVCM). The various materials are compiled by likely usage and alphabetically.

This manual is a supplement to the Engineering, User's and Systems manuals prepared for the Antenna Modeling Program (AMP). This document describes the operation, theory, and coding of the changes made to AMP in order to decrease the running time for large voluminous structures with wire appendages. The options incorporated are surface modeling with surface patches as an alternative to wire grid modeling, and the use of approximate structure matrix elements where appropriate. In addition, an...

Deep ocean moored thermistor string buoys were constructed to obtain vertical temperature profiles at depths down to 1500 meters. A requirement for data acquisition in near real time was met by means of on-board signal conditioning and prompt radio transmission to a computer equipped shore station for automatic processing and subsequent use in relating acoustic propagation to temporal variations along designated acoustic paths. Two such buoy systems were launched. One was successfully implanted...

The Job Language Performance Requirements (JLPR) study was conducted to determine language tasks the soldier must do in studying/performing job tasks. The language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) required to learn each Army job task were identified, conditions studied and standards determined. The data that gathered the JLPR is identified. (Author)
