Our final release of 2006 is the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for the award-winning Canadian documentary The Corporation, produced by Canadian composer Leonard J. Paul. This is the original music soundtrack plus extra pieces, totaling 28 tracks for the release. It also comes w/ artwork and full liner notes from Leonard himself. This is a huge release for us, and we're very proud to be able to offer it at Kikapu. We'd like to thank Leonard for letting us release this amazing piece of work,...

The sounds of Roto Visage seep into the celluloid and flicker with the moving images of what has been argued as being the first surrealist film, Antonin Artaud and Germaine Dulac's La coquille et le clergyman (The Seashell and the Clergyman, 1928). Implementing a phantasmagorical approach towards construction, a boundless number of sound sources and arrangement techniques were fused together to create this soundtrack. Roto Visage and Kikapu would like to thank Transflux Films for providing the...

We've reached another small milestone with our 75th release, a collection of random Pocka tracks that have been sitting on our hard drive for the better part of a year or more. These tracks were primarily produced during 2004 in the wilds of Vancouver, BC, though a few gems from 2003 sneaked their way into this release as well. How to sum up these tracks? Well, it really is quite random, everything from droning ambience to acoustic guitar pop to ragga mashups to a slew of remixes and...

“Arriving At Night In Ithaca” chronicles an imaginary nocturnal sea journey – imagine you are the sailor Ulysses, coming home after many years of travel. The General Design Commission, aka Gen_Des_Com, aka Red Antenna label-head James Reeves, seeks the clicks of the office, the clangs of the factory, and occasional moments of diplomatic melody. The rationality of his new EP has a seductiveness that operates as a kind of subterfuge, threatening to obscure the human cost of industrialization. Or so they say.

A split-label release with algorhythm's own No Logo Records, this long-awaited debut EP from Akron, Ohio's Joel MacClellan is now available here at Kikapu. A non-teleological work ranging from droney ambience to down tempo glitch to experimental breaks, algorhythm's music is a harsh reserve of abstractness with an emotional edge. Also included in this release are two remixes of the third cut on this release, 'phahkt;' a hardcore breaks mix by Vulcanizer and a mellow down tempo remix by DubJay....

Tao: Paris-based electronica artist. Trying to melt various influences from early jazz to hip hop passing through dub into a soft and quite naive and melodic idm/electronica style music. Kaneel: Rouen, France-based ambient/electronica artist. Making music since June.99, searching for making some nice and understandable vibes mixing to it some insected beats and retriged effects you can name: 'ambientish insectified retriged soft mellowish idm.'

Our second collaborative project in as many releases, Miopedi is more of a split release that was planned and conceived in a collaborative fashion, rather than the usual joint EP. Hence the tracks being mixed up by the two artists. You might recognize Leenak (aka Kaneel) from a previous Kikapu single and releases on a multitude of labels such as Camomille. The duo Makunouchi Bento has been seen all over the internet as of late, with a plethora of releases on various net.labels. These two...

We've got another great mix here from Chiang Mai for your listening pleasure. While his last mix was all techno, this one is very much focused on hip-hop, footwork, juke, and just general bass music. Quite amazing really, the mix of styles in this, and it is a hell of a lot of fun too. Again, no tracklist here, but we recognize some Waka Flocka Flame, Jonwayne, Philip D. Kick, Flying Lotus and De La Soul. Download, listen, repeat, enjoy.

Since we love you so much, we have a special present for you today: a new full-length album from none other than Evan Valentine himself! It's called 'sinister device' and this album is a masterwork of tight breakbeats and IDM stylings. It's been sitting on the shelf for awhile, and it's debut is long overdue. Thanks to E. Valentine for the wonderful release and remember that we heart you. Artwork by Alex Curran

The mysterious Karl Zeiss produces another meticulously clean stream of shiny metallic beats with 'Nachtzeit'. It is known that Karl Zeiss controls the machinery of the night time with a massive array of electronic equipment. John Cage once remarked that viewing cracks in a sidewalk interested him as art. The subtexts of a living play. Here to translate the empty spaces: Craque. Recorded live from an improv session on Chicago's WNUR on June 24, 2002; amplified objects and acoustic phenomenon, sampling cross-sections through a block of wood. Listen deeply. Electronic.

Chiang Mai created this amazing mix of techno for us, keeping it often minimal and dark. The only info provided for this mix is that "tracklists are for chumps," but on listening to the mix, we know that things start and end bright with some WNY tracks, but it gets dark and bass-heavy in the middle...there is some Andy Stott in there, to give it some perspective. It really is a great slice of techno and should immediately be downloaded and placed on repeat.

Glomag is Chris Burke, a sound and web designer based in New York City. His first Kikapu release, "The Axis and The Alloy," is a series of fragmentations in which the original sample material is sometimes glimpsed only fleetingly, and sometimes left standing unscathed in the midst of new electronic constructions. Chris Burke's previous work with his band Glorified Magnified and his solo releases "Idioglossia" and "Oil War" were the breeding ground from which this...

The Swedish takeover of Kikapu continues with our latest release from Gustav Björklind. This release is in a bit of a different direction from what you might call a past discernable "Kikapu sound" with a definite microsound influence. Gustav claims Miles Davis, Kompakt, and coffee as an influence for these tracks, and it shows. Abstract techno with minimal clicks and cuts for breaks, these tracks are a great example of Gustav's style and a very welcome addition to the Kikapu...

Kicking off a month of ambient releases here at Kikapu, newcomer Veem bring us seven delicate tracks of beautiful ambient soundscapes. Reminiscent of some of our past ambient releases, these songs are quite spacey, dreamy, and often just slightly drifting along at times, flowing into one another quite nicely. Its headphone-listening at its best.

A lovely single from our favorite multi-aliased Finn, Ernesto Aeroflot wrote this song as a birthday present for a good friend of his, and was kind enough to share it with all of you. The title tells it all: a constant string of vocal samples run throughout this upbeat track giving, well..advice. Its for all you youngsters out there.

The debut release from The Strait Of Anain is a four-track EP of amazing depth and beauty; it utilizes full live instrumentation, spoken word, and vocals to perfection. Similar to some of our past releases by Matt Borghi and adcBicycle, this is another shining moment for Kikapu.

Colorado-based artist Ten and Tracer, aka Jonathan Canupp, taps into the emotional side of music, implementing smooth melodies that lazily float into your brain and back out again. His use of subtle, yet beautiful breaks, rhythms, and melody lines enforce this idea and takes the listener on a down tempo journey. This EP contains two exclusive tracks, plus two alternate versions of tracks that are on his album 'An Hour Brighter' on U-Cover.
