Left Tapes

Simon Greenwood

Left Tapes is a repository for music that was made in the late 80s and early 90s involving Simon Greenwood, a passive middle aged man from Leeds, England. Most of the music was recorded on assorted portastudios as demos or only exists on nth generation tapes, so it is by definition scrappy and lo-fi.

Recorded in 1988, influenced by REM (hence the name) and the romantic side of C86. Some adolescent lovelornness may be apparent. Transcribed from cassette as the masters have long gone.
Topics: indie, REM, Wedding Present, Go Betweens, C86

Shambly garage indie EP recorded with that concrete reverb feel. More like Mega City Four than Teenage Fanclub but the intention was music to wear German army parkas to. Cover of Bizarre Love Triangle is of course attributed to New Order and copyright whatever their publishing company was called that week.
Topics: indie, 1991, fuzz, guitar
