Hayden, Jr., E. Parker and Gray, Andrew L. [editors], "Beauport Chronicle: The Letters of Henry Davis Sleeper to Abram Piatt Andrew, Jr. 1906-1915", Boston, Historic New England, 2005.
These two books of letters are an amazing piece of lost gay men's history. Beauport is the name of Sleeper's mansion in Gloucester, Massachusetts which is a museum open to the public. The book is sold in the gift shop there.
The two men were lovers and close friends of Isabella Stewart Gardner, the Boston socialite and creator of the famous Gardner Museum of Art in Boston. The "Beauport
Chronicle. . . . . . " book records many activities of the three friends. They were both wealthy also. Andrew had a doctorate in Economics and taught at Harvard. He was also the founder of the American Field Service medical corps in France during WWI. The "Letters . . . . . ." book is from this period.
