The attention of the public is respectfully called
to the following special features of this volume: I. it is the first work of its kind on the Arabic of Morocco. II. It is the first of any kind on that language in English. III. It is the first volume printed in Morocco. IV. It is compiled and arranged on an entirely new system
for the easy acquirement of a foreign language, which the
compiler hopes ere long to adapt to others V. It is entirely original, no dictionary having been used
in its compilation, until when fairly advanced, and then only
as a check. It contains over 3,200 English, and 4,500
Arabic words. VI. Every Arabic scholar will appreciate it as a means of
comparison with another dialect of that language, and being
in English characters, all students of Hebrew and ether
Oriental tongues will find it a most useful volume. VII. The faults it contains are unavoidable in the first
edition ofsuch a work, and no claim is set up either for
completeness or perfection.
