About the wondeful quality of this important book
The original photography (jp2 files) of this book is excellent, and so therefore are the images - in their original colour from the 1820s.
The account in English is a translation from the original French and is about the then new route (Paris - Rome) over the Simplon Pass that was a remarkable feat of Napoleonic Civil Engineering.
The images clearly demonstrate the extraordinary quality of this work, and they are provided with a colour matching tablet so that you may be sure that what you see is what is there in the actual book. For those interested in Alpine Passes of the 19th Century, this is an essential read.
Most highly recommended.
