The Shishi Xinbao (時事新報) or China Times was one of the leading Chinese newspapers published in Shanghai from 1907 to 1949. In its early years it was affiliated with the Progressive Party (進步黨) which was a rival to the later dominant Nationalist party (國民黨). The Shishi Xinbao (時事新報) or China Times was one of the leading Chinese newspapers published in Shanghai from 1907 to 1949. In its early years it was affiliated with the Progressive Party (進步黨) which was a rival to the later dominant Nationalist party (國民黨). In May 1911 the newspaper merged with Yulun Ribao (輿論日報 Public Opinion Daily).
