Forum: movies Subject: Kiwi Farms Removed From Wayback Machine... Why?

Sorry if this is in the incorrect place; I can't seem to find a Wayback Machine-specific forum.

If you're not familiar with the Kiwi Farms/Keffals situation, here's the basic rundown: a forum called Kiwi Farms was completely scrubbed from the internet because a user of the forum swatted a transgender Twitch streamer named Keffals who has a history of illegal behavior like sex-chatting with underage girls & giving hormone replacement therapy to minors in Texas without their parents' consent. (There's much more but this is the condensed version). Kiwi Farms is basically an archive site where the insane behavior of "terminally online" people is posted along with some pretty abhorrent opinions & slurs, but the ugly opinions are not to leave the site per the rules. And everything posted is available publicly--no hacking or other illegal means of obtaining it required.

Regardless of how you feel about the views & language used on Kiwi Farms, what's happened to it does not bode well for internet freedom/freedom of speech. KF said clearly on every post: "We are not an autistic army. Do not troll or harass people off the site." If Keffals was swatted, it was not with the consent or help of the admin or the forum as a whole. In 2020, Reddit mass deleted over a thousand subforums including many gay, lesbian & women's subforums just to appease these folx. No explanation was given other than "you're not the minority & we always side with the minority" basically.

The way the media is repeating that KF is a "transgender hate site" that "stalks & harasses people to suicide" is almost too insane to be real. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. They're an archive site that keeps records of what people post willingly and publicly for the world to see. What ever happened to "the internet is forever?" And now an ACTUAL archive site--the one we're all on right now, Internet Archive/Wayback Machine--is memoryholing content they deem unfit for us to remember?

This is reaching North Korea levels of creepy. It's not about trans rights but about what type of internet you want: an information superhighway or a corporate-sponsored fascist information gulag. They're trying to turn the internet into TV, with total control over the information that flows from its channels. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Google are the new NBC, CBS, ABC & FOX. And they're using trans rights to do it.

The admin of Kiwi Farms did not request that the site be de-indexed so I'd love to know why it was completely wiped from the Wayback Machine. What good is this site if they arbitrarily scrub websites with years or decades of information from their archives with no explanation given? I was always such a fan of this site's stated mission but now am extremely dubious and more than a little creeped out.

(If this post is removed I will be disappointed but not surprised. It seems there's more going on than meets the eye with this situation & no website wants to touch this topic).

I agree. Kiwi farms should be re-included right now, as the drama has settled down.

Has Archive.Org been subverted by the Silicon Valley Money Makers and/or tech giants?

Does whatever someone in a "protected" class of people object to in any way automatically go into the "Hate Speech" trash bin?

Someone with the time and money and an inclination to do so should take Archive.Org management to Federal Court and challenge this on some relevant legal basis.

Class action?
