Last Christmas LoC stopped giving us the Black & White PDF format option. I preferred that format over the others. Can you tell me why it was discontinued? Almost everyone else has followed suit. Was this at the request of Internet Archive? Can you please bring it back?

Hello, I had posted replies to your three posts on this issue, but found out since that my analysis was wrong. Since nobody had replied to any of them, I took the liberty to delete them.

This however is correct: You may generate your own BW PDF from the uploaded images (which are available in *_orig_jp2.tar or *_jp2.zip.) See link, for example.

However, this is not a viable step for common purposes.

As with DjVu, you can easily separate the three images for PDF files too. (using the program ‘pdfimages’, for example.) You can then print just the mask image.
